Jennifer Dane Named 2026 South Carolina Vetrepreneur of the Year
Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Palmetto celebrates an Air Force veteran, military advocate, entrepreneur, and REALTOR® whose career is built on helping people navigate change.
Some recognitions celebrate a single achievement. Others recognize the way a person has built an entire life around service, leadership, courage, and impact.
Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Palmetto is proud to celebrate Jennifer Dane, who has been named the 2026 South Carolina Vetrepreneur of the Year by Military Friendly®. The statewide honor recognizes Jennifer's work as a veteran entrepreneur and the uncommon combination of military intelligence, nonprofit leadership, project management, advocacy, technology, and real estate expertise she brings to the people and communities she serves.
Jennifer is a United States Air Force veteran, REALTOR®, PMP-certified project manager, former nonprofit executive, military family advocate, and lifelong learner. Across every chapter of her career, one theme remains consistent: she steps into complicated situations, makes sense of the details, and helps people move forward with greater confidence.
An Award That Honors Service After Service
The Vetrepreneur of the Year recognition highlights veterans who continue leading after military service by building businesses, solving problems, creating opportunities, and strengthening their communities. Jennifer's selection as South Carolina's 2026 honoree reflects much more than a job title or a single year of production.
It recognizes a career shaped by mission, responsibility, and the willingness to enter unfamiliar territory with a clear head and a determined spirit. Jennifer describes herself as a connector, problem solver, and lifelong learner. Those qualities have allowed her to contribute across military service, nonprofit leadership, public advocacy, communications, project management, entrepreneurship, and residential real estate.
For Jennifer, entrepreneurship is not simply about creating a business. It is about recognizing a need, building a better solution, and making that solution useful to real people.
Six Years in Air Force Intelligence
Jennifer spent six years in the United States Air Force as an all-source intelligence analyst. Her work required her to collect information from multiple sources, evaluate details that could be incomplete or contradictory, identify patterns, assess risk, and communicate what decision-makers needed to know while they still had time to act.
That experience built habits that remain central to her work today: research before assumptions, preparation before pressure, and clear communication before confusion. It also taught her that information is only valuable when it can be translated into responsible action.
In real estate, those skills matter. A property listing never tells the whole story. Financing, title issues, inspection findings, insurance, timelines, market conditions, repair negotiations, appraisal concerns, and contract requirements can all affect whether a transaction succeeds. Jennifer approaches each move with the discipline to look beyond the surface and help clients understand what they are walking into.
Leadership Beyond the Uniform
Jennifer's commitment to service did not end when she left the Air Force. She has led nonprofit organizations, directed communications initiatives, published research focused on military and veteran issues, testified before Congress, and served as CEO of a national military and veteran nonprofit.
These roles demanded more than passion. They required Jennifer to understand policy, manage complex projects, communicate with diverse audiences, build coalitions, and remain accountable for results. As a Project Management Professional with multiple advanced degrees, she brings both formal training and real-world leadership experience to every new challenge.
Jennifer was also the first person in her family to graduate from college. She continued well beyond that milestone, earning advanced degrees and building a life around curiosity, education, and continual growth. Her path demonstrates that leadership is not about knowing everything before beginning. It is about being willing to learn, ask better questions, and keep going.
Turning Military Experience Into Better Real Estate Guidance
Jennifer's commitment to military families is personal. She served, relocated under military orders, and understands that a Permanent Change of Station is never just a move from one address to another. It can affect a service member's reporting timeline, a spouse's employment, a child's school, financing decisions, household logistics, and a family's sense of stability.
That experience informs the way she works with active-duty service members, veterans, and military families moving to or from Charleston, Summerville, Joint Base Charleston, Columbia, and communities across South Carolina.
Jennifer's real estate specialties include:
- VA home financing
- Military and veteran relocation
- PCS moves to South Carolina
- Assumable mortgages
- Buyer and seller representation
- Property and market research
- Complex transaction management
- Statewide South Carolina relocation
Assumable mortgages are one area where Jennifer's attention to detail is especially valuable. These transactions can involve unique lender requirements, longer approval timelines, qualification standards, equity considerations, and documents that must be handled correctly. Jennifer understands where assumptions tend to slow down, which questions should be asked early, and how to help clients prepare for a process that differs from a traditional purchase.
Creating USMilitaryMoves.com
Jennifer created USMilitaryMoves.com because military families deserve relocation guidance that reflects the realities of military life. A generic packet and a list of homes are not enough when a family is making major decisions from another state, working against military deadlines, or trying to understand an unfamiliar community.
The platform is designed to connect military members and veterans with informed real estate support and helpful relocation resources. It reflects Jennifer's ability to recognize a gap, bring people together, and build a solution with a clear purpose.
Innovation With Human Judgment
Jennifer also embraces artificial intelligence as a tool for deeper research, faster analysis, and better-informed decisions. Combined with her intelligence background and professional judgment, modern technology helps her investigate properties, analyze markets, identify potential concerns, and organize complex information for clients.
Technology does not replace Jennifer's experience or responsibility. It expands what she can find, evaluate, and explain. That distinction aligns closely with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Palmetto's commitment to innovation that improves the client experience while keeping people, relationships, and professional judgment at the center.
Why This Recognition Matters
Jennifer Dane's selection as the 2026 South Carolina Vetrepreneur of the Year honors a veteran who continues to serve by creating solutions, opening doors, mentoring others, and helping families make decisions that once felt out of reach.
It also reflects something we value deeply at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Palmetto: success means more when it creates a positive impact beyond one person. Jennifer's leadership strengthens military families, veteran communities, real estate clients, and the professionals fortunate enough to work alongside her.
We are proud to have Jennifer as part of the BHGRE Palmetto family, and we congratulate her on this well-earned statewide recognition.
Congratulations, Jennifer!
